About us

Labrys Productions was established in 1996 by Joan Beveridge and Dee Shelley. Joan's recent credits as writer/director include Storm (2008), a 13 minute drama, DogDay (2008), a 90 second drama and White Fire (2007), an 8 minute, digital short supported by the UK Film Council, Cornwall Film and SW Screen.

She has also produced/directed: Can't You Take a Joke, a documentary for Channel 4, Unity Theatre, a documentary for the Unity Theatre Trust, Women in View, a documentary for Equity on the position of women in entertainment and UnderWater World, an animation for Meridian TV.

Joan now works full-time for Labrys, prior to this she spent 4 years working in Cornwall for Creative Kernow and Cornwall Film participating in the development of a strategic approach to the screen sector in Cornwall. Prior to this she was the Project Director of Gay & Lesbian Arts and Media in Brighton for 5 years. She has been a serving member of the Board of Women in Film & Television since 2003.
